Guess I don't see the point of building them all in Arizona.

Great, but wish would be in Texas
Taiwan is Texas’seventh-largest trading partner. Taiwan is already the fourth-largest source country for capital investment created by FDI in Texas.
For new investment, Taiwan's Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics maker and a major supplier to Apple (AAPL.O), opens new tab and Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab in Harris County, Texas.
Taiwanese contract laptop makers Compal, opens new tab and Inventec opens new tab - which also makes AI servers - may expand into the Texas

Foxconn screwed Trump as well with that factory in Wisconsin in his first term. Need to read the details, but they need to charge them max tariffs until they put the money down.

Arizona has been chasing these kinds of plants for a long time.and getting them.. . they need special builds as you could imagine..
They were chasing it before the 280 billion dollar chips act from Biden and already upped their commitment from 45 to 65 billion last year for building plants in Arizona also (?)… not sure if those numbers are included in this 100 billion comment.
Arizonas sales pitch
Climate and Geography: Arizona's dry desert climate with low humidity and stable geological conditions are ideal for sensitive semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Land Availability: Spacious land plots are available for large-scale chip fabrication plants.
Workforce: A growing pool of skilled workers with experience in the semiconductor industry, thanks to companies like Motorola and Intel already having a presence in the state.
Government Incentives: Arizona actively attracts semiconductor companies with tax breaks and other financial support programs.
Infrastructure: Existing infrastructure and access to utilities like electricity are suitable for high-power chip manufacturing needs.
