I don't do Facebook. But if Facebook doesn't want to host a certain opinion, they are within their right to take it off of their platform.

Facebook made a sweetheart deal with the government so they can't be sued as a publisher because they are simply a platform to let people express their views. But when they want to ban content, they revert to being a publisher and have the governments laws to protect them. Sounds fair right?

I’m slowly starting to come around to breaking them up. Still haven’t decided yet. I’d prefer a decentralized social network to rise up and crush them instead but we aren’t ready for that and may never be.

I'd honestly love to see somebody do this, but the only way it could work is if there were no censorship rules with very few exceptions that should align to U.S. laws, such as threats, calls to action, etc. There should be no censorship on "hate speech" or "offensive" speech. It'd be interesting to see what would happen.
One way it could work: You can downvote/upvote, but it doesn't work like here where it's just a scoreboard, or Yahoo where unpopular posts are hidden and you have to ask to see it.
Instead, it would be like on Amazon, where you view a product and it says "People who viewed this page also viewed A,B,C or bought X,Y,Z". The new site remember what you like and dislike and use that to predict what new content you will or won't like. You can even select a reason for the downvote - fake news, vulgar language, hate speech, lame and unfunny, etc. People can post whatever they want short of threats and harassment of other users, and heavily viewed content will not only be rated by the community at large, but everyone will be able to customize the results to give more weight to some reviewers.
