I read that WV legistaure last week basically proposed or passed a resolution that they could or would accept Virginia counties that wanted to secede.

But can the counties actually even do it? I mean they're not trying to leave the union, just moving to their neighbors.

I could be wrong but I don't think they can without House approval.

Not easily.

Something has to give though.

As of mid January over 100 cities and counties declared themselves 2a sanctuaries.

The few places that don’t follow are basically leading by mob rule over places they’ve never been.

It’s not being received well at all.

Something has to change. The Yankees in NOVA have no idea about people from across the state that were born and bred there.

This reminds me of when the City of Palatine, IL tried unsuccessfully to sue to leave Cook County.

Instead of secession, VA should explore kicking NOVA out and gifting to Maryland.

Get rid of their richest area? Why would they do that?

The only cases I know where counties have seceded from states was the Civil War. Based on the premise that if a state can secede from a union, then a county can secede from a state. Now given the war concluded that a state can not secede from a union, then using the same logic, a county can not secede from a state.

Why didn't they reunify Virginia post-war?

Good question, so I researched it. Here is what this Bion Michael Sheldon guy said on Quora
quote:

The two parts of Virginia were never really well-matched, culturally. Think about it this way: Why did West Virginia want to leave Virginia in the first place? Virginians in the northwestern counties were not slave-owners, and apparently thought little of the institution of slavery. Sure, the Civil War ended slavery, but the mindset of the two areas were clearly very different.

Incidentally, Virginia did sue to try to get a few of the counties of West Virginia back into its territory. Claiming that the counties (which are at the far eastern end of West Virginia) had not conducted a proper vote to leave Virginia and join West Virginia, Virginia demanded their return. The trial was held in the Supreme Court (because SCOTUS has original jurisdiction in state vs. state cases) and ruled 6–3 against Virginia. As an aside, the Court’s ruling was interpreted to also endorse West Virginia’s secession (though they did not explicitly say this).

The tldr is if everyone agrees and Congress signs off on it, it's allowed.

They don't need to secede. They need to exercise the tools the Founding Fathers provided and remove the would-be tyrants at muzzle point. If they won't cooperate, kill them.

The constitution is silent on the issue. They cannot form a new state without permission of their prior state and the congress. But nothing prevents them from joining an existing state.

If they hold a convention and elections and form a new government and pay taxes to it and have police, etc., etc., etc., the only thing that can be done to stop it is to send troops in to shoot them.

Would the rest of America really support the mass genocide of innocent people who only want self determination?

I don't know what the technical legal answer is, but the actual answer is a resounding "no."

We are a country ruled by judges, not by laws, and the judges are firmly under the control of the rootless cosmopolitans that rule over us.

No, they would just find a reason to come arrest them. And none of these boomers are going to die in order to secede from Virginia.
