why do you fail to mention that the captured it in the six days war from Jordan, who only held it because they captured it in 1948 when all the surrounding areas countries attacked Israel the second they declared the state?
B/c the OP requested quick cliffs, not an entire history. I figured the OP already knew that the Arabs have been hostile to Israel since the first minute of Israel's existence.

FTR, there actually is a Palestinian State and/or Homeland. We call it Jordan. But that's another shite storm conversation entirely.
And Lebanon.
One could argue that the Israelis have already created the 2 state solution by giving Gaza to the Palestinians.
The truth is there can never be a 2 state solution because the Palestinians will never accept anything other than all of Israel as their country.

It's like the dispute between North Carolina and Ohio over the Wright Bros. first flight.

And in this particular case the victor was magnanimous by giving the losers Gaza.
The whole Israel hating world condemns Israel for settling the West Bank.
Somehow the hating world forgets that Israel won that Territory plus Gaza and the Golan Heights in a peace negotiation between themselves and the 3 nations that attacked them.
