I mean there are abortions done that save the mother's life

I'm conservative, and I don't agree with abortions to save a lifestyle, but this is true. Ectopic pregnancies are a major threat to the mother, and that fetus has no chance of survival. That's a perfect example of an abortion that will save the mother's life.

I think a victim of rape or child abuse should be able to terminate a resulting pregnancy. An underage girl, a woman, or a couple will already have to live with the consequences of being victims of those crimes. I don't feel it's the government's right to tell them they have no choice but to have that child.

I also feel it should be up to parents to choose whether or not they want to go through with the delivery of an unhealthy child. My brother's first son had a genetic/developmental disorder that was discovered during the second trimester. He and his wife chose to go through with it, and it was definitely a hardship raising a special needs child. But, he died not long before his 5th birthday from complications from his disorder. That was hard on everyone in our family, and it ultimately broke their marriage because neither of them really knew how to deal with it. It's been over 12 years ago, and my brother still hurts from it. Even as an uncle, being a pallbearer on such a small casket was heartbreaking and affected my view of having children myself. I'm not sure I could put myself or my fiance through that if we find out we're pregnant with an unhealthy child.

So, I do not see abortions as a way to preserve a lifestyle or an answer for promiscuity catching up to you. I don't think they should be taxpayer funded. I don't think the father should have no say in it. But, I do think there are legitimate situations when abortion should be an option.
