Putin cannot survive an unsuccessful war.
He’s riding on the back of a tiger. If he stops riding the tiger will eat him. His only chance is to strangle the tiger. He can’t declare peace without complete victory.
Unfortunately for him, the Russian economy, military power, and world influence are declining. He cannot ride the tiger indefinitely!
He will continue the war because it’s his only avenue of personal survival and the survival of his dreams of reclaiming the land area of the former Soviet Union.
He will die in or flee from a coup. Russia will not recover for decades.
