Border Patrol union complaining of immigrant illnesses

I fear starting another 5-7 page thread which will quickly deteriorate into an argument over HIPAA requirements.
But now a FedGov employee union--usually a reliable Dem constituency--is complaining of this problem.

The various lawsuits over this crap is going to get interesting.
Anyone contracting a permanent disability over this is going to sue the living shite out of the Border Patrol, US government, etc., over it claiming poor working conditions.

Personally, I'd rather keep the illegals and deport them.

Well ... glad it was worth a chuckle.
I have many ex-military friends who have decided to take the "if you can't beat'em, join'em" approach ... and got government jobs.

I have a friend with FEMA who was sent down there. When he gets back I'll be interested to hear what is really going on.

That's your first problem--your inability to pick better friends

FIFY, given what's rampant down there.
What I fear is that you've now got an influx of people with communicable diseases, mixing with groups of people who have bought into the anti-vaccination conspiracy theories.

To expand on this:
About this time last year, there was an outbreak of whooping cough, brought about when someone traveled overseas and was exposed.
The problem accelerated as that person was a member of a local church that taught an extreme form of faith healing (i.e., going to a doctor was, in their view, lack of faith in God to heal). Not surprisingly it attracted several families who had bought in to the anti-vaccine conspiracy theory.
You can guess what happened next. Fortunately, nobody died (I don't think, anyway).
Point being, mix people from overseas with communicable diseases with those having bought into conspiracy theory and/or questionable religious teaching, and a mini-pandemic could occur.

Well, they are essentially caged.....just like prisoners so naturally there will be a spread of all kinds of viruses.
Maybe we should charge Mexico for the doctors time in seeing these folks.

As someone who lives in a border town, this worries me to no end.
