The National Intelligence Council says it only has “low confidence” in Israel's claim that a handful of UNRWA staffers took part in the Oct. 7th attack. That means it has no "independent confirmation" -- aka no reliable evidence.
US intel also says it can't even verify Israel's claim that 10% of all UNRWA staffers have Hamas ties. (A claim that, even if true, would be meaningless: Hamas is the gov't in Gaza and "ties" is a deliberately nebulous term. It's a tactic straight out of the Russiagate playbook).
According to one source, US intelligence specifically flagged Israel's longtime goal to destroy UNRWA: “There is a specific section that mentions how Israeli bias serves to mischaracterize much of their assessments on Unrwa and says this has resulted in distortions.”
Yet this didn't stop

That was my mistake not separating those killed in the initial attack from those later killed and those taken as hostages. Hostages that, I might add, are still being held by Hamas according to Hamas themselves.
I guess it should've been 2000 killed in the initial unprovoked attack to warrant actual retaliation by Israel. Clearly 800-900 was a number low enough that Israel should have just said "aww shucks" and let it go.
