Biden’s new menthol ban has been put on hold to avoid angering black communities (via Washington Examiner):
A two-year-old proposal to ban menthol cigarettes may be delayed until after the 2024 election as President Joe Biden weighs a move that could risk eroding his support within the black community.
The Food and Drug Administration first proposed banning menthols and flavored cigars in April 2022 but has since missed two deadlines for finalizing the rule, the second of which expired at the end of March.

Biden’s menthol ban has received praise from public health advocates who say it can save hundreds of thousands of lives. The tobacco industry is also accused of disproportionately targeting the black community with its marketing of menthol cigarettes.
But the issue has divided black community leaders and drawn opposition from law enforcement groups.
The Rev. Al Sharpton has come out against the ban, saying it will give police more reason to target black people, though the ban’s advocates point out that he has accepted donations from industry groups.
Gwen Carr, an activist and the mother of Eric Garner, says the ban is inconsistent and racially inequitable. About 81% of black adult smokers used menthol cigarettes in 2020, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, compared to 34% of white adult smokers.

How is delaying it doing any good? It’s almost worse to delay the ban, that sends the message “we’re going to ban menthols anyway, but we don’t want it to realize our racism until after you vote”

It’s probably best to allow the smokers to inhale menthol during the holidays to remind them of peppermints and candy canes.

While I agree with this, black people as a voting group will cry and bitch and moan about how dems only care about them every fours years, then don’t do shite for them afterwards only to vote for them 85+%
Black people have made themselves politically irrelevant because they vote en masse for one party. If they didn’t do that, then the dems would ACTUALLY have to work for their vote and get shite done for them.

Seems dumb for them to even bring the topic up at all publicly if this is how they're going to approach it

If catering to specific & demographics was an art democrats would be artists. In this case supposedly menthol enhances the drive blacks have for cigarettes which is a major cancerous causing problem. But for Biden’s case to be president he’s willing to forgo enforcement of ban regardless of added deaths he causes towards blacks . You can surmise that #Biden hates Blacks .

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is facing backlash after a restaurant he partially owns posted a job listing for $16 an hour when a new state law is forcing fast food eateries to pay their employees $20 an hour.

At some point you'd expect the American black would pick up on the clues but here we are. Maybe this is the year? So many examples of inherent racism passed off as "progress"(affirmative action,DEI, the list goes on)and yet never once has the crowd figured it out. At some point you just lose hope they ever will. Im always reminded of Woody Harrelsons laymen break down of the 2 races in "White Men Can't Jump" on these occasions. Such a simple explanation that, if used respectively, lays it out pretty well. Free stuff looks good too. If perception is ever to be changed it must start with themselves figuring out why the perception is what it is. Or caring about what the perception is. Many simply just don't care. Happy to continue to feed it. Therefore all these years later and "progress" is still the goal. Racial progress peaked in 2016. Trump returned the left to its normal racist roots.

The "granularity" by which these shiny objects are selected is impressive (Menthol in this case). Democrats use 3 criteria to select their audience: 1) they vote, 2) they're clueless, and 3) they're financially irresponsible.
