What has infuriated me is we racked up 37 trillion in debt through deficit spending, and it appears that a large percentage of that deficit was simply fraud, waste, and theft.
We didn’t even spend it on what it was supposed to go to. It could have at least been invested into America, but nope. So we are in a dire financial situation and have jack shite to show for it. Like maxing out a credit card at a strip club

The OP’s narrative as presented by Bessent is %100 true. What the Statists and their Lobbyists will argue is that the (re)allocation of these monies via Government is a good thing. And as much of that allocation is directed towards Obama’s “spread the wealth around” , many who are unable to prosper in the ‘meritocracy economy’ will be on board. And this doesn’t even factor in the massive unemployment that the coming High Tech will create. Or the societal dynamics of Envy as the relative affluence of some engenders ‘inequality’-based grievance and contempt in less powerful individuals. Of course as Elon points out, the ‘Convergence’ wherein genetic limitations in the common man/less powerful will be mitigated by said Convergence (brain upgrade via AI/Bio technology. Fascinating. Humanity’s evolutionary journey from then to now is astounding. “Sewn in corruption and raised incorruptible “. And “from the smallest of all seeds to the greatest of all trees…”. There are no words to lend due reverence and respect at some point. Just awe and gratitude for the Children of Love/God.
