It's these poor choices that keep people poor (and that applies to a shite ton of whites as well).

It is a myth
If it weren't, there would be few successful black people and few poor white people.

You are looking at it wrong, imo.
The more accurate phrase would be "minority disadvantage"
Many white groups in america were not privileged, just look at our labor history

Instead of throwing around ad hominems, why not actually engage in thoughtful debate?

that's absolutely true, but at the very least they aren't profiled nearly to the degree minorities are
acknowledging white privilege doesn't mean i think its something that's impossible to work around to succeed.
would you want to trade places with a black dude of comparable background?

Let me help Bernie out.
Census Data
Median Black family wealth - 9,211
Median Hispanic family wealth - 12,460
Median White family wealth (not Hispanic) - 132,483
Median Asian family wealth - 112,250
Net worth excluding equity in own home
Black - 2,725
Hispanic - 5,839
White - 51,096
Asian - 41,507
Homeownership (2013 to stay consistent with above)
Black - 43.1%
Hispanic - 46.1%
White - 73.3%
Asian - 57.4%
So, the majority of everyone's wealth comes from home ownership and white people own their homes at a higher rate than other races. Why could that be? Culture is my guess. You can argue high credit risk, but laws have been put in place to help that. Instead, look at foreclosure rates and notice that blacks and Hispanics have higher rates than Asians and whites.

Why can't you accept that being poor in today's America is a choice?
I know plenty of black kids (and latinos for that matter) that came from poor families who have increased their wealth and will pass down a brighter future to their kids. Why? They choose to get an education, a job, and not waste their money.

Nope. You are simply virtue signaling. It's cool though. It seems to be the hip thing to do in liberal circles.

How is he defining "wealth?" Assets and cash flow or what? I have a hard time believing the average white family has a net worth of $116,000 when most people live paycheck to paycheck and are in debt. There's just no way the average white family has a cleared, debt free worth of $116k.
Though, to be fair, perhaps I live in a bubble and rich coastal elites like Bernie are bringing up the average.
