Banks are not individuals.

Correct. Therefore they cannot own money or wealth. The money is given to INDIVIDUALS that make up the bank’s owners and wmployees.

I don't get excited when companies get perks from the government. Call me cynical but I understand that companies (and individuals generally) only operate in their best interests. Giving these bonuses benefited them in some way (positive PR?). I would prefer people like me (who don't own major stocks in any corporation) would get ALL of the tax cuts.

You're confused between investment banks and commercial banks. These bonuses appear to be going to all employees, not just the already well paid investment banking crowd. You're really off base on this one - uncharacteristically so even.

That's true. I did confuse the two, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I see how what I posted doesn't make much sense now.

What does it matter? You're clearly just looking for ammo to use against me. You disagreeing with me has nothing to do with my job. Why do you want to make it personal?

I'm not saying this to be mean.

But what you are failing to understand is the government has no right to that money. Person or company that money is theirs and they have every right to try to keep as much of it as possible.

It isn't a noble cause to give your money to the government for them to spend.

In this country, we abide by the US Constitution. Unfortunately, there is an amendment that says congress has the right to levy taxes. That's reality. I don't love it but it doesn’t matter. I try to keep my money, as well.

But there is nothing in the constitution that establishes a standard for the percentage of earned revenue that is owed to the government. That percentage is an arbitrary figure and subject to change.

You seem to think that the previous percentage levied upon corporations came down from Sinai with Moses.

For my part I believe all corporate taxes should be abolished.
