Children that are now considered only low end moderate or mild would likely not have been diagnosed as autistic 40 years ago.
Because they weren’t around in the numbers present today.
Could there have been a non-diagnosis, or two, or three? Sure.
Could a ratio of 1 out of 22 been the case then?

I thinj maybe you are 1 in 22 because this is a very simple concept you absolutely don’t grasp.
Autism is a spectrum. there are people on it you wouldn’t know are on it if you aren’t a licensed professional who observes them for specific traits. there are people on it who will live a relatively normal life.
If the definition and criteria of diagnosis change over the decades to include more behaviors you’ll get more diagnoses.

No shite.
I will trust my judgement (and EXPERIENCE) concerning this matter as opposed to yours.

I didn’t suggest otherwise. I simply stated that the numbers in the past don’t stack up with the current iterations and instances.
I know what I see now, as opposed to what I saw then.

Of course you do.

let me just ask you, what do you do that makes you think your experience is worthwhile?

Prior to retirement? Decades in the field of education with my origins in SWE.
You?

Went to school from 1964-1977, back in that era there were Special Ed classes.

2025… estimates 1 in 2
There are FAR more tests available at prices everyone can afford now to diagnose developmental disorders.
Source: I test for autism.

i haven’t found a court order that they remove it.
My autistic twins are 34 now. Back then, it was no causation and we will not provide the data to support it so good luck. Glad to see a larger force fighting back because it was a very small group back then.

I have a few autistic people in my family.
but again, we’re talking about population statistics.
my nephew just got diagnosed. he part of those statistic. you wouldn’t think he’s autistic. I dont think he’s autistic, he part of those statistics.
and if you read any article about why we have more autistic people the people who study these things are saying this, better access to professional to diagnose kids and a wider understanding of what austin’s entails.
but the point of this thread is whether we can blame vaccines.
there are autistic unvaccinated kids. the statistics indicate they are equally as likely to get autism and also fricking whooping caugh

I’ve stated no blame for vaccines, gmo’s or…pick your causation.
What I stated is that, regardless of the current standard for designation, the number of people diagnosed today far exceeds the lack of diagnoses in the past. If the number were the same, then there would be a LARGE number of people my age that are presenting identifying characteristics. There aren’t. They don’t exist. I too have family members (plural) on the “spectrum” - including autism. That doesn’t alter my observance that the SPED population growing up, including those with autism, was quite small. There has been an explosion in what constitutes SPED / SWE students in the last 20 years. Despite that portion of the student body growing exponentially, the subset that involves students on the spectrum has actually outpaced that growth.
Something is amiss.
What, I’m not sure.
However, what I do feel quite certain about is that this phenomenon can’t simply be explained away with noting a lack of being diagnosed in the past.
It simply doesn’t account for the growth rate that I have seen / experienced in my lifetime.

Talk to Board Certified Clinical Psychologist or Behavior Analyst before posting your cute little gifs. Or do a little research in the very least.
I mean Aspergers affects about 37 million people in the world and sure as shite had not been merged under autsim spectrum disorder back in the 80s. So you might want to edit your quote to "Could there have been a non-diagnosis, or two, or three, or tens of millions, sure".
It makes my head hurt to think you people actually vote.
