Unintended horrible consequences. Just like the good old government to blame the private sector for a problem 100% caused by the government backing of student loans.

I bet college would cost 50% of what it costs today if loans weren't backed by the Feds. Hell, it might even costs less than that.

Inflation has been under 3% my entire adult life and yet the college I attended is now 300% higher than when I went. Not an exaggeration. A 100% increase over that period of time would be normal based on the inflation rate. 300%, nope. Without the government backing, colleges could never have raised tuition as high as they have.

It was a solid plan which blew up in our faces.

Banks can't be blamed for this one. Should they have asked for your major when applying for a loan? Sure, but imagine how that would have gone over with liberals. Imagine if banks had a sliding scale. If you had a engineering degree you could get 100% of the max. If you had a degree in Trans Lesbian African Dance, you got .0005 of the max.

We stopped making student loans in 2007 or so,” he responded.

“So you don’t do it anymore? Mr. Corbyn?” she pressed the next banker.

“We exited student lending in 2009,” he replied.

“Mr. Dimon?” Waters tried again.

“When the government took over student lending in 2010, we stopped doing all student lending,” he said.

Wow it’s almost as if the banks themselves couldn’t have chosen a better person to ask them questions that would allow them to escape real scrutiny.

Surely they couldn’t be so crafty and sneaky as to literally place stupid people in Congress with these sorts of situations in mind. Right?

How long has Congress been compromised, you think?

Democracy is amazing it took someone with the natural proclivity and ability to be a maid, cashier or perhaps a practical nurse and enabled her to regulate our nations banking system.

Don't forget Elijah Cummings, Ilhan Omar, Nancy Pelosi, etc... I think it may be harder to name 1 smart Democrat than to name the stupid ones.

Obviously we need more government to fix this crisis created by the government.

Take a look at the trend line since they started taking over around 2010. Obviously it was trending upwards before that, but it really spiked around that time, particularly for the black and Hispanic population.

Or the late night comedy shows.

If this doesnt make the cut it proves their bias. This is a classic bit that doesnt need to be "cut and pasted" to get a laugh.

Waters began by explaining the student debt crisis, saying, “Today, there are more than 44 million Americans that owe … $1.56 trillion in student loan debt.”

If that's true, then the average debt owed by these 44 million people is $35,000.

I also payed my own student debt after college. I didn't have to borrow that much, but I chose a field that I knew I could make decent money in.

Pay your fricken debts and shut up. I have two cars and both cost more than $35,000.

Grow up.

“That was interesting, was it not?” he asked. “It appeared to me that Maxine Waters, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, did not know that the government had nationalized student loans 10 years ago. I don’t believe she knows that. She chairs a committee which regulates the banks.”

It would've been much simpler to just call her a fricking retard. He did, but in a more eloquent fashion.

With that being said, HBCUs have tremendous default rates on student loans. They're also exempt from repercussions relating to those defaults, unlike other universities, colleges, and proprietary schools. I found this out when I worked for a student loan guarantor years ago.
