He's pushing 80 years old. I'm sure when he is ready to step down, he may want to write a book. I doubt he has the energy or the will to step into that role.

Not saying it's a good idea, but would allow Trump at appoint a younger person and imagine his oral arguments during cases.

He should do some speaking at college assemblies. He's great and Q and A after a short presentation.
