He has nothing to lose because his career is over if he steps down anyway, and he would be a helluva lot more credible.

Challenge the legislature to get over it and just do their jobs and govern.

Why should he give a shite what Biden, Booker, and Harris say or think?

I'm not at all defending the dumbass. I'm just asking, as far as resignation goes, what's in it for him? He's radioactive...no one will give him a job, so why give up the one he has?

He will be gone soon. I doubt he survives the next couple of weeks.

He’s dead in the water as Governor of Virginia. No one, and I mean no one, wants to work with him now. Which means nothing will get done. Which means the Democratic Party can kiss that office goodbye in 4 years.

Somebody will force him out. It’s just a matter of when.

There is absolutely no upside for him personally to do so.

People keep saying he has to. That's just fundamentally false. His career ends on his last day in office anyway.

So he challenges everyone to grow a set, get over it, and work together anyway. People at some point will demand that they govern, and anyone running for reelection will have to.

Doesnt matter his upside. The pressure that will be brought to bear will make it impossible for him to govern. He will cave.

Yeah. Not how that works.

The Democrats don’t want to lose that office. Especially when there’s a black Lt. Governor waiting in the wings who they feel can help them keep the office. Also, any intransigence on his part could affect Dem seats in the legislature.

Again, he’s gone. They’ll make his life miserable until he quits. It’s just a matter of how long it takes.

Don’t get me wrong. I hope this drags out as long as possible, because the longer it goes on, the more damaging it is. But it’s inevitable that this is not going to end well for Northam.

Why should he? Unless the party buys him out, why should he give up his huge salary and benefits? So what if he "can't govern"? We already know he's a dumbass. Maybe he'd rather be a governor who can't govern than an unemployed former governor.

If that's his mindset, there's zero pressure anyone can put on him.

How, exactly? Huge salary, cushy mansion. What if he just decides to sit on his arse and do nothing the rest of his term?

We ready know he has no morals. I don't at all assume he cares about what's good for the state.

The argument you’re making is that nobody can force anybody else to do anything. Yeah, you can put a gun to my head, but you still can’t force me to do what you want me to do. You’ll just have to kill me.

We know that already.

The point is, how badly does he want to be governor? Badly enough to withstand the pressure he’s going to face? His family? Does the position of Governor of Virginia even pay that much?

And when it’s all said and done, if he’s still intransigent about it all, the legislature can just go ahead and impeach him as being unfit to hold the office. He wouldn’t survive that.

Yeah. I think every republican is hoping that he refuses. Every day more and more people are waking up to the hypocrisy of the Left. This is just another mile marker.

He needs to just tell the truth. He can't allow the black guy to be governor.

Well, how's The Gov doing this week?

Everyone was quick to say how he couldn't survive, back when the Dems appeared to have a rising star to slide into the governor's chair. Now that all three of the top Dems are tainted, the obvious truth is that if one goes, they all have to go, which gives the governorship to the Republicans.

The argument that "no one will work with Northam"? Well, so much for that. That was back when everyone assumed that Fairfax would just slide right in.

And who cares?

Zero threads on the first page here. But more telling...zero articles on the front page of Richmond.com, other than one article halfway down about a potential investigation into Wilcox by the Va. Assembly. Zero articles about Northam.

Looks like he survived the initial media onslaught and the Twitter mob, and it's looking increasingly likely that he isn't going anywhere.
