Simply paying reparations in the form of cash funds is more efficient than things like affirmative action.
AA dilutes colleges by filling it with less qualified and less academically inclined students, which lowers the overall quality of our educational institutions.
Payments don't have that cost.

Do you think less blacks would be accepted to colleges if the admissions process prohibited decisions based on race?

Should be. People like losh will always want to give more to some than others thinking it actually heals America somehow. It only grows the divide creating an attitude of entitlement for one group and resent from the other.
You want whites and blacks to get along don't punish one for something neither did. Actually treat them as equal and maybe that's how they'll treat each other

I'm concerned with concrete, measurable, persistent inequities like the wealth gap that are in substantial part the product of pre-1970s government policies.

Are you Dale51's alt? Go somewhere with your last question first.

Huh? I'm just wondering why you think Affirmative Action, as a means of reparations, is needed in 2017.
Would your arse hurt less if I had added the "why" in with the original question.
If you had said no, my next question would be why it was still needed. Since you said yes, I'm wondering why you think so.
Don't be a bitch.

I don't think it's enough, after several centuries of fricked treatment, for the state to just say "okay we're colorblind

Why can't SAT requirements be the same for everyone? If you can't make the score, you don't go to college. Yay affirmative action! frick equality!

And you can cut the 150+ years bullshite because I'm talking about all state-backed racial oppression. Jim Crow ain't that old.
I was born in 1986 and I had jack shite to do with Jim Crow (and my family didn't move to the south until 1983, so they didn't either). frick that shite if you think I should be financially responsible for that.

I put "treated" in quotes there specifically because you were using it in the person-to-person relations sense.
