It would be cheaper for MAGA to subsidize low level worker wages than engage in a trade war to "fix it."
We have been doing that for 60 years, heck we dont even make them work.....how's that playing out?????

The lower-level manufacturing jobs aren't worth minimum wage, let alone more than the McDonalds wages.
Right. Which is why they're done by people in 3rd world countries

This country thought Ross Perot was a nut case so they elected Bill Clinton. Perot said If you pass NAFTA and elected Clinton that giant sucking sound you will hear will be jobs leaving America. HE ALSO said you close pur factories and we will become a consumer nation dependent on the world

Chaos and randomness being chaotically and randomly inserted into the worldwide economy has led to drastically negative results.
He repeatedly spoke about tariffs in detail on the campaign trail. Its the typical pushback from DC and the media causing this chaos.
And its not off again on again, the message is very clear.
We will place reciprocal tariffs on ALL barriers to trade (not just the pieces the msm is writing stories on). You can either pay them, decide not to sell to us, remove your tariffs, or build a factory in the US. Its up to you.
Some, like Vietnam have decided to remove the tariffs.
Others, like chini, are taking the Saipan view and jumping off a cliff. It didnt turn out too well for the Japanese, lets see how it works for chini.

Thats just a blatant lie......

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.)(IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.)(NEA), section 604 of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended (19 U.S.C. 2483), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,
quote:
Section 1. National Emergency. As President of the United States, my highest duty is ensuring the national and economic security of the country and its citizens. I have declared a national emergency arising from conditions reflected in large and persistent annual U.S. goods trade deficits, which have grown by over 40 percent in the past 5 years alone, reaching $1.2 trillion in 2024.
From the White House of President Donald J. Trump
Trump absolutely utilized the declaration of national emergency to impose these tariffs, and the power to impose tariffs is a power granted to congress by the constitution. Now, presidents have been given discretion to impose tariffs by congress, but:
quote:
In his second term, however, Trump has sought to use emergency powers set out in a 1977 law to impose tariffs in a more ad hoc fashion. Trump has said, for example, that fentanyl flowing in from Canada and Mexico constitute a national emergency and has used that pretext to impose 25% duties on goods from both countries. Congress can seek to cancel an emergency that a president declares, and Sen. Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia, has proposed to do just that regarding Canada. That legislation could pass the Senate but would likely die in the House. Other bills in Congress that would also limit the president’s authority to set tariffs face tough odds for passage as well.
LINK
In other words, Congress allows the President to do this, but usually after openly studying the idea in public hearings to assess if imports met the criteria to be levied with tariffs. Trump so overstepped himself this time that already Congress is reassessing how much tariff power to take back, and that effort is being led by Republicans:
quote:
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, a Trump ally who is third in line to the presidency, introduced a bill with Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., on Thursday that would reassert Congress' authority and slap restrictions on the president's power to levy tariffs.
The legislation, called the Trade Review Act of 2025, would require the president to notify Congress of new tariffs within 48 hours of imposition, while providing his reasons and an analysis of the impacts on American consumers and businesses. Then Congress would have 60 days to approve it. If it does not, the tariffs would expire after that period.
“For too long, Congress has delegated its clear authority to regulate interstate and foreign commerce to the executive branch,” Grassley said in a statement. “Building on my previous efforts as Finance Committee Chairman, I’m joining Senator Cantwell to introduce the bipartisan Trade Review Act of 2025 to reassert Congress’ constitutional role and ensure Congress has a voice in trade policy.”

So, no, it’s most definitely not a lie.

This is true, and here's what else is true.
Just like the other guy, you're a Shiite MAGA that'll talk whatever talk Orange Muhammad tells you too.
And here's another thing that's true. The reason you're not up in your feels about the stock market is because you and the rest of these assholes with a "workin' man's PhD" have nothing in it beyond the 2.5% your employer coughs up.
We all better hope this corrects, especially people like you. Trump's government won't be around to take care of you.
This unwavering faith MAGA now has in Government makes me chuckle. You make me chuckle. Red pill yourself.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. This is what I lost on Friday alone. I’m just not an emotional bitch about it.
