All hybrids are sold by Ricetec. No one else has developed a commercially acceptable one yet. Bayer tried, sold their assets to Nutrien, and so far they haven’t been able to produce one either. The silica pubescence is typical of traditional Asian varieties that are used in breeding the hybrid parent lines. Ricetec’s original hybrid parent lines were brought here from China in the mid-late 1980’s.

He was a little before my time, but I certainly knew of him. An extremely important guy in the Rice industry.

My farmer called two weeks ago to ask if we wanted to sell or hold our corn. He told me 95% of the corn crop had not been sold waiting for the price to improve $3.55/bu then. IMO, I don’t see an improvement in the price with that much corn still waiting on the market.

Them rice mafia boys asking again? I would have thought the almost $1B in direct payments they received back in the day would still be holding them over.

This may be more information than you want to spill but just curious. Is this land you inherited or just investment land?

Any reason for selling? While I do think commodity prices are in for a rough run. Land, especially ag, seems like a solid place to hold value with the impending inflation and economic turmoil.
