I like how Christians talk about the decline in this country and want to go back to more pure times like segregation era
If evangelical Americans became persecuted it would be fine with me, what a drain on society. The good thing is 95% of them don't really believe what they say they do so they just go to church on Sunday, do a couple missions trips as teens, boycott Disney, then act like everyone else in the world the rest of the time.

"Christians" have opened themselves up to be mocked and criticized when they act "unchristian." Jesus Christ was a man who is suppose to represent love, forgiveness. He taught that we're suppose to be cool to each other. Unfortunately, we now see too many "Christians" practicing hate and intolerance. Just visit any message board and you will see what I mean.

Thanks for nauseatingly proving my point.

This Administration is comprised from the top down of a different kind of Religious Fundamentalist, and that is the rigid, Orthodox Leftist. They do not feel constrained by The Rule Of Law or Constitutional limitations. They have identified certain people and groups who fit the Conservative Christian Traditionalist meme and have targeted them for ridicule, abuse and government persecution. They do this to GREAT APPLAUSE from their base. Because it is considered VIRTUOUS by many on The Left (there are notable exceptions of course) to allow their bigotry towards them to guide their speech and behavior
When there are more "Petes" then "Pimps" in a society is when people start getting murdered in the streets and the body counts run into the millions.

What "hate"? Specific instances? Crimes like stoning or beheading? Or do you mean 'hate'...as in hurt somebody's feelings when they point out principles of the Christian Faith which don't align with someone's chosen lifestyle. Or their politics.
Jesus stuck a finger in the eye of both contemporary Religion and the Political powers that were. He called out adulterers, liars, thieves and narcissists. And they nailed him up.
"Message board" hate!
BTW. I don't defend sorry Christians no more than I would sorry Republicans.
This will all come out in the wash. Soon enough.

By the way-to compare cultural bigotry and cultural bullying-to what The Nazis did to The Jews is WAY off base, a gargantuan over-statement, and unintentionally minimizes the horror of The Holocaust. I think we all know this, right?
You are totally correct. In fairness to the thread, I took him to mean that he was seeing a climate of bigotry and hatred being cultivated that makes it easier to make a scapegoat out of a group of individuals, similar to Germany in 1930s.

In my life, I have never seen so much hate towards conservatives nor Christians. Most of the media is anti conservative and Christian. The government, under this administration has targeted conservatives and christians using different agencies. Anti Obama film maker was investigated and then arrested. Christian organizations now listed as hate groups.
Are we now what the Jews were to the nazis? Are we getting close to that?

Play nicely. It was a joke.

Yes I took it the same way and responded in kind and then remembered THE LITERALISTS. Always....THE LITERALISTS and the constant spoon-feeding they require. Here, there are about a dozen Obstinate Literalists that will walk 1000 miles to avoid your OBVIOUS point and build a freaking house on what clearly meant as METAPHOR. It's how the idiots argue these days.

it is a mind-numbingly idiotic metaphor.
Christians fricked over non-christians in this country for 200 years, now we are being repaid, in an extremely minor way. Now people can actually say what they want. 50 years ago, atheists had to keep it to themselves to avoid virtual blacklists.
It is not difficult to be a Christian in America. Comparing it to jews in Germany is to demonstrate how completely skewed the OP's viewpoint is.

Nobody will take Christians seriously until they start being more like Jesus. Unlike most Christians, I've actually read the bible and if you look at the teachings and actions of Jesus and compare them with American Evangelicals you would think they were from opposite faiths.

Right on cue. A Literalist. So you probably agree with the guy who said this earlier in the thread, I would guess:

So you agree that Jesus would be appalled by American Evangelicals. Or as my favorite bumper sticker says; "Jesus would slap the shite out of you"
