Not a big fan of Millennials, but GenX, Boomers, and "The Greatest Generation" are all dumber. Boomers are probably the dumbest.

Every gerenartion has a percentage of idiots, if you flip the research I bet you find a bunch of kids who are doing really well right now.
As it relates to innate intelligence, each successive generation has been found to be more intelligent than the previous (Flynn Effect).

Now obviously the real world applications is contingent on a slew of other variables (motivation, emotional intelligence, etc.), which could cancel that all out; however, they doesn't negate the increase in intelligence though.

I think the variables is a major factor

The majority of people my age that I associate with are in no way what many on this board perceive millennials to be.
Oh I think there are stinking generalities forwarded here. No question. I also think, if one dials in some late 1960's hippie interviews, there are similarities with millennial stereotypes being criticized here.

But with conclusion of the cold war, there were also gradual changes in social, civic, political, economic and historical curricular emphases. That impacted curiosity and competence in those areas.

e.g., In review of Jefferson, there is now greater emphasis on great speculation involving Sally Hemmings as opposed to origins of the Declaration of Independence, Compromise of 1790, etc.

Superficially, that fact is not necessarily bad or good. But insofar as the next step is for Hemmings to be used to discount or disregard Jefferson's intellectuality or contributions, it leads many new students to lack understanding of national foundations aside from slavery.

Good reply, the majority of how people turn out comes from how they were raised. Fortunately I feel my parents taught me good values, morals, manners, and the value of an education. From what I have seen around me is a lot of very poor parenting.
