My vote was part of the landslide.

First election I voted in. (graduated HS in 1984)
First off there were a lot less of the media. All you had for TV was CBS, NBC, and ABC and generally the news on TV were half hour nightly newscasts, your hour long Sunday morning shows, 60 Minutes on Sunday night, and Nightline for 30 or 60 minutes after local news on ABC. Secondly this was back in the Fairness Doctrine days where if you wanted to kiss the arse of one candidate you also had to give the same opportunity to the other candidate so things were played a lot more fairly. Thirdly Reagan had the rather unique ability of being the only Republican in my lifetime who could charm the pants off the media even if they were against his policies.

I remember standing in line for over an hour to vote. I lived in Tigerland (never got shot). The polling place was some small elementary school on a street off Nicholson on the street right past Brightside. It turned into a party as it was pretty much all college students voting. That’s when LSU was 75% conservative baws & gals. Reagan was huge with students and it drove faculty nuts.

That was back when we had actual investigative journalists and, while still left leaning, coverage was much more balanced.

I wish everyone here could have experienced the awesomeness of Ronald Reagan. There was so much national patriotism sweeping the country. Watch a video of the Redskins visiting the WH after their Super Bowl win. “Where’s Ricky Sanders?” bellowed Reagan. Hit him with a football pass in stride. Everyone having a great time. Trump has reminded me of Reagan.
