Have my annual health assessment, first time since Covid. I assume I’ll be presented the option to get the shot. Curious how it will go. I’ll probably turn down the flu shot.

Prepare for telemedicine.

That’s what I’ve been doing or messaging through healtheVet. Labs then pants drop tomorrow I assume.

Got the jab and a mask? If so good to go.

My daddy just went and told them he’s not getting the injection. His doctor didn’t push it.

You’re able to actually visit with your physician? It’s been tele-health only for me since last year.

Good to hear. My clinic is usually pretty chill but we will see. That’s what I was curious about, any pushback or lecture.

I gave up on the VA years ago and was fortunate to have other insurance when I was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer back in 2009. I am convinced that if I would have had to rely on the VA, I would not be responding to this post.
Best of luck buddy....

I’ve been a few times for a specialist over the past year. They only ask if you’ve had Covid symptoms or been around anyone diagnosed in the previous 14 days when you walk in. They require a mask but other than those two things, business as usual. Visitors allowed in the clinic areas. Not sure of the hospital.

I went today and the didn’t push it on me. Now, they may try to get you to get tested though.

I guess so. I got a letter in the mail to call and confirm my annual and set up the lab and apt time. This is at my outpatient clinic.
Most of my stuff is choice since I’m remote.

I get those same reminders and every time I follow up they change to tele-health unless I need labs done.
How far are you from the hospital? DJT changed the VA standards to allow for veterans a certain distance away from a VA facility to visit a local doctor instead at no charge. Your VA card works like insurance if you’re far enough away.

In a weird world, my nephew works at/for the va and, apparently, just got promoted. He is managing some portion in Charleston as well as Florida and it is all virtual.
I dont think the va cares anymore....

I’m about 2 hours away from the nearest hospital, 5 hours from major one. I’ve done telehelth and got sent to a convenient care - non va - last time I needed to be seen. Out patient clinic is about 30 mins. Most of my stuff is choice, even had a survey done before choice was passed by a civilian a few years ago. I did present my ID at local convenient care, I also have other insurance. I like doing my PHA and labs at VA, everything else there not so much.

I’m with you there. I like the VA when I can get in and out easily
Take advantage of what the great orange man changed for us whenever you can. Most veterans aren’t even aware they have the option of choosing a local doctor.

I interact with the VA now that I am in the Texas area. When I lived in Louisiana I all but gave up on them.
Don't like the telemedicine appointments but they are very proactive and seem to care.

I have another dr with my insurance but they never run full panel labs like the VA does. It’s crazy how they can’t keep primaries at the VA, I’ve had a new one pretty much every year. My current is a PA that is from my town, she’s ok, but it will be in and out.

I was pressured by my Primary to get the shot.
She is a bitch as well.

The work load is insane. That’s part of the reason Trump wrote an EO to allow for private practice to see veterans under the VA system at no charge to the veteran. Surprised Biden hasn’t rescinded that.
