I’m also reading When Breath Becomes Air. Are you familiar? I find the author extremely relatable when he describes earnestly trying to discover the meaning of life.
Btw, today I got news that my student who had been re-arrested passed his last GED test. It had an essay component that was graded by a human grader. I’ve been bragging about him to everyone I know.

I am familiar. Good read, I'm sure.
But "When Breath Becomes Air" would hit a little too close to home to be enjoyable.
It's interesting. With very few exceptions, I always compartmentalized the hard stuff from family life. Perhaps not so much for their benefit as mine? But flipping the switch from one world to another, did all parties a service.

Education scores have been disappointing, but that’s not really a recent phenomenon. We need to improve overall education.
Nevertheless we have world’s largest GDP and strongest long term economy.
We’re still dealing with residual effects of inflation and missteps by this administration, but these things are transitory and will pass.
We have more freedom and economic mobility than most other countries.
Our military is the best in the world, and we usually use it wisely and judiciously( usually)…

It’s a great read so far. Very well-written. The author earned degrees in English literature from Stanford before he decided to go to medical school.
