Some Amazon.com Inc. shareholders may want to sue President Donald Trump for tanking the stock with his tweets. But while regulators can check to see if anyone close to the president traded ahead of his attacks on Jeff Bezos and Amazon’s contract with the U.S. Postal Service, the chances of holding Trump accountable for sending Amazon shares, and the rest of the tech sector, into a nosedive are slim.

Trump has been on a constant rant against Amazon AMZN, +0.31% in the past several days, targeting the company’s shipping deal with the post office in particular. According to a report late Monday from Vanity Fair, Trump is “obsessed” with Amazon Chief Executive Jeff Bezos and is actively seeking ways to damage the company.

Bezos has a choice:

1) choose to stop publishing anti trump BS in the WAPO

2) let his company and shareholders down

False premise wrapped up in a false dichotomy.

Trump is the ultimate shorter. He can take your stock down with a mere tweet.

So was "Remember the Maine".

It still did not end up well for Spain.

It's amazing how so many on here will completely overlook words like "may", "could", "possibly", "alleged", and "reportedly" if it confirms your bias.

It's just as bad as the "journalists" that use those types of words to begin with.

Two takeaways from this post.

1) Trumpkins are well aware that the president's lies about Amazon are motivated, not by concern for USPS or brick and mortar business, but by anger over the free press doing its job instead of kowtowing to him.

2) Trumpkins actually love the fact that their president is willing to torpedo American businesses in order to silence the free press. To them, Trump's fascist streak isn't a bug, it's a feature!

And the fact that Bezos could buy and sell him multiple times. That's the real kicker

What’s funny to me is the party of “pay your fair share” and “down with the 1%” is defending some of the biggest corporations who get away with not paying their fair share all because of Trump derangement syndrome.

So bezos buys media, publish political commentary, expects amazon shareholders to be the shield that protects him from scrutiny?

Not so fast my friend

Two takeaways from this post.
Wrong takeaways.

The SINGLE takeaway is in a 50:50 political world, fiduciary duty holds that CEO's should remain as politically nonpartisan/bipartisan as possible.

Put another way, if a corporate CEO buys a newspaper, the public will likely attach his company to obvious bias in the paper, as it should.

There is no question whatsoever Bezos's purchase of the Post was designed to forward or potentially forward Amazon's position.
