keep a handgun in their classrooms under a biometric fingerprint safe.
You have to vet the safes as well. Was it last year? This year? Where a kid was shot, playing with a gun, because he BYPASSED the biometric lock. Quite easily.
Pay attention to that homeowners too. Some of these "safes" really aren't very safe.
They have to pass a build test, as well. Some of these safes you can fairly easy crack open with tools students can find in the maintenance sheds.

And FFS end the war on bullying.
Not long ago when GenX was growing up, we learned to stand up for ourselves by beating the shite out of our bully when we couldn't take it any more. Or maybe we got our arse kicked when we stood up to the bully, but got in some vicious hits and earned his respect (my story

Stupid, lame arse excuse. We're not saying that every Tim Walz needs to be armed.
In a school with 50 teachers, though, perhaps 5 could be trained. Only the local police chief and sheriff need to know who they are. I'd keep the principal in the dark as well.
Even if no one is armed, if schools just had the "Gun Free Zone" designation removed, then potential shooters would have to think twice before going on their rampages.
As for the "room full of children" comment, I would hope that even the dumbest of dumbass teachers would know not to point a loaded weapon at the students.
I know this: what we've been doing isn't working. BTW, I would guess Madison, WI, probably has tough gun laws on the books already since it is a liberal shithole. How did this screwed up chick get her hands on one?

I’m sick of seeing these things happen
I had this convo with a pair of figs outside the polling station back when I went to go vote.
They started up the gun control shite, and I fired back with this.
They asked so what should we do? And I went through a list. As soon as I got to armed guards they smugly interrupted with We should turn schools into prisons. Got it.
I am so absolutely sick of that mentality. So frocking sick of it.
I answered back with. You started that, making kids wear masks in schools. We will just do it right.

That should be a part of the armed teacher program. They should get incentive pay for the added responsibility and should have quarterly qualification drills.

It starts with the perimeter. Architects are a major part of the problem. They are more concerned about meeting budgets and style.
Schools are the exact opposites of jails. We need to keep the criminals out. They spend billions on jail perimeters and Pennies on your child’s safety.
There needs to be a standard spec for all schools’ perimeter security.
Cameras don’t work. Fences built properly do.

Arming teachers is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while.
Solve the core problem versus allowing it to grow.

Were saying the same thing.
My point is that most of the people in the average school would either freeze up or put kids at risk squeezing off rounds without any sense of who else they might hit or with very little chance of hitting the shooter.
Training is a must if we are going to arm civilians who are going to carry around children and any responsible firearms instructor would agree.

I’d say yearly, but over all I agree.
And given the teachers I know if you put cash behind it even the purple haired cat women teachers will be lining up to get certified.

I don’t know the answers, but I don’t think mandatory teacher carry is one of them. But there has to be a plan to make schools “harder” for this to happen. Mental health intervention is one part of it, but you have to have a comprehensive plan of defense against it. I’ll pay for more SROs-guards as long as they are trained and capable badasses, not the pussies that stood down in Florida and Texas.

Horrible answer. I agree the mentality I’ll should be thrown in there; but are you suggesting we would somehow have a 100% success rate with that? No we wouldn’t. The simple fact is everything that is a hard target by it’s nature is less likely to be targeted and it’s understandable less people will die if they are
His answer wasn't bad. Neither was yours.
Locking the crazies up takes care of more issues, than just the school shootings.
Of course it isn't 100%. But considering the cost we are paying, wouldn't even 20% be a win? For me, just one less time kids and teachers don't have to go through this, parents don't go through this, and fricktard polis don't get a chance to preach gun control would be a win.
This isn't aimed at you TD. But right now I'm pissed, and I gotta turn around the gun controllers shite against them.
How many kids have to die before you turn over your crazies?

You'll never be 100% safe from the nuts.
Anyone that claims something is a failure simply because it isn't 100% is not a serious person.

Unless we’re paying for training and certification I’m not in favor of that and I’m one of the most pro gun rights people you will ever meet.
Let's be honest here. There's cops that aren't competent enough to go strapped in Walmart, much less classrooms.
Thinking directly of the cop that shot himself in the leg, in front of a class of kids, drawing his weapon.
Anybody allowed to go strapped in a school should have to go through, and pass, air marshall training.
And that's not a cakewalk.
After very seriously being vetted, especially their social media.

Eliminate the department of education. Give that money to the states and let state voters decide what to do with their schools.
We should require more specialized training for teachers. Better train them to recognize and deal with troubled students, train them in physical combat, train them in gun training and responding to physical and gun violence.
Include principles and councillors. And mandate that they report the issues. Dept of Ed, school boards, and local boards have no say. More of this stuff would actually GET reported.
There is no such thing as gun violence. It's a left wing phrase. It's people violence.
Hahaha, I was thinking of physical training for teachers, and my 7th grade English teacher came to mind. That woman was so fat, it was a fight for her just to get out of her chair

I know in some schools the students are NOT friendly to them.
His junior year, I drug my kid through the halls and made him publicly apologize to one of them at his school, cuz he picked a fight, or tried to, with one.

Yup. Anybody that isn't 100% sure about carrying a weapon, will be less than 100% sure of USING said weapon, if they have to.

On the flip side tho. Get rid of phones and Internet in the schools. Kids posting shite of other kids in the classroom for cyber bullying can drive kids to suicide.
Iean, sure I'd kick said kids arse, but half the internet would still be making threats and shite to me.

That's not an excuse, it's serious freaking truth.
There's people who are not competent enough to hold, or even draw a firearm. And surely not competent to get into a gunfight in a room or hallway full of bystanders.
Now, I'm sure that the poster who said that, completely agrees with everything else you'd said. As do I.
But just because they didn't say that, let's not go saying it's an excuse, ok?
