And? I'm just paraphrasing what the Toddler in Chief has told us. Unemployment was *WAY* high. As soon as Trump took office, it immediately dropped to 4.4% - from 50%, 70%, who knows I heard even a million percent. That's why so many people are off the stamps. MAGA

As of Jan. 1, 2017, there were 13,663 able-bodied adults without dependents receiving food stamps statewide.

You missed the able-bodied adults without dependents part, right?

Apparently these were the same types standing on the side of the road with," will work for food" signs.

Yea, I was just pointing out the impossibility of every single able-bodied person being gainfully employed. I agree with most, just not that part is all.

Apparently 85% of them in Alabama could.

Why do you presume that?

Maybe because they came off food stamps? Why do you presume they did not?

Does one automatically gain employment when un-enrolling from food stamps?

I don't.

That isn't 100%. Thus the need for the program. I am glad it is saving money on unworthy recipients.

I'm confused why able-bodied adults without dependents shouldn't receive food stamps if they can't afford food?

Do they automatically receive welfare or unemployment checks if they can't find a job?

Seriously asking.

There is little doubt that kids will suffer in this situation, but what is your solution? Do you believe that the kids of drug addicted parents aren't going to suffer regardless?

Then perhaps the PARENTS of those kids better un-frick themselves.

It is not the role of JOHN Q. to subsidize such behavior ...which is exactly what we are doing via government thievery.

I hear what you are saying ... I see it every damn day ... but, what we are doing ... IS NOT WORKING.

Maybe my &20 a month can help a kid suffer less---in the end that's all food stamps are doing anyway. There's this myth around here that ppl are living the good life getting $200 a month in food stamps. I spend about twice that a week at Wal-Mart and my fridge is always empty.

There can be no good life when you are basically a slave to what Government "gives" you (via stealing from others).

I'm not under such impression that food stamps alone can give someone the good life, but that really isn't the point. Taking Governent subsides from tax payers when you are capable of working but won't, is theft. Plain as that.
I know some of my wife's co-workers, and they work full time, but also buy food stamps from others at half price. This is a common occurrence in certain communities.

very true---it's kinda like throwing a bone to the poor and weak minded. Some will see thru it and rise above and some will be content on getting crumps.

All humans take advantage of situation s when they can. Rich ppl get great cpa's in order to skimp out on taxes (stealing?), poor ppl mooch off the state.

Not that I'm defending either, but In one example, the person is doing things to keep his own money. In the other, they are scamming to take others. Apples and oranges.
