Once again I’ll ask for anything to support your position on this matter.

My position that it's not my decision to make for people? I can't imagine what it would be like to be in a position to have to make that decision. So I'm not going to sit here and say what they should do.

You do you, and I'll make as much noise as I can defending someone's right to choose even if I don't agree personally with it.

But what about letting the unborn child decide? Is the person who decides to abort that child not making that decision for them? What gives them right to say that life can be ended?

Conversely, by you telling a woman she can't have an abortion, aren't you restricting her pursuit of happiness?

Every pursuit of happiness has consequences.

Actions have consequences.

She pursued her happiness by having sex. Pursuit isn't indefinite and consequence free.

As for rape and incest, I’m truly sorry for the victim. And I hope she gets all help available. But it’s not the baby’s fault. You can’t punish an innocent child for the crime of someone else. And killing that unborn child will not serve justice to anyone

You would honestly look your daughter in the eye after she had been violently raped by some thug and tell her you dont want her taking a plan b pill?

He wouldn't, but it makes him feel good to sit here on a message board atop his high horse.

I'm not trying to playa gotcha game with him. I find those with his point of view are genuinely good folks that care about the unborn but there is lot of gray area to this issue and choices arent always simple.

pretty naive view on it. Premarital sex is the norm now, granpda.

I don't really stand on either side firmly on this issue, but something to think about. If you force someone who doesn't want a baby to have one, what kind of life you think that baby is gonna have?

because darth said the ONLY case he would support it was in the interest of the life of the mother.
That's fine. Do you support abortion in the vast majority of instances where rape, incest, and the life of the mother are not in play?

I support someone's right to make that decision for themselves up to a certain point in the pregnancy, yes.

Would you support the right of a parent to kill their born child if the family would be better off (financially or otherwise)?

It's not a dumb question. I'm trying to isolate the key principle he's using to justify his position.

because if I don't support it after a certain point in the pregnancy (see my last post) why would I support killing a child?

God forbid that ever happened, I’d not have to tell her to no because I am raising her to know that all human life is precious and we do not have the right to end it. Whether she keeps the child or putvit up for adoption would be up to her unless she was legally too young to decide for herself.

Quality of life for the parents you mean? A person with downs knows no different so it basically boils down to the parents not wanting to "deal with it".

Which honestly is a fair concern. I have no idea when they can detect down syndrome, but if it's early enough and the parents decide they want to abort then that's their business. It might seem abhorrent to some, and I'm sure it's a tough decision for anyone to make, but at the end of the day that's their call to make. And quality of life of the parent is a fair component of that call.

her getting an abortion would also be up to her and there is nothing you could do about it.
