ATHENS — There’s a growing revolt among cities upset that Georgia isn’t doing enough to contain the coronavirus. And Gov. Brian Kemp isn’t yet doing anything to stop it.

A week after Savannah became the first Georgia city to require the use of face masks, two other local governments joined their ranks. East Point lawmakers approved restrictions on Monday and officials in Kemp’s hometown of Athens followed suit on Tuesday. Several others have scheduled votes later this week.

The requirements could come into conflict with a statewide order from Kemp that “strongly encourages” – but does not mandate – the use of masks and bans local governments from enacting stricter or more lenient measure to fight the disease.

Supporters of the restrictions say they’re unfazed by what could be a thorny legal challenge. They point to pleas from public health experts, the growing number of states with similar requirements and the surging number of coronavirus cases in Georgia, which passed the 100,000 mark on Tuesday.

For safety, once a vaccine comes out those who have received it should have an outwardly visible mark of some kind.

Perhaps a law requiring a mark on the forehead or hand.

For safety, of course...........

St. Louis County schools are not allowing students without vaccinations to attend in-school classes this year. They will require them to use the e-learning option. This hasn’t hit the press yet, I don’t think.

When is something in this country NOT a social media fight? It's exhausting.

So if they want to buy or sell they can't unless they have the mark? Agree. Let's just get rid of cash too! We can put their debit and credit card numbers in their chip too, for convenience of course...

The mask or not mask rolling fight is NOT the issue, it is a sideshow, a distraction. Covid in some form is with us; the Left wing media will distort and fear monger it no matter what. My freedom really doesn’t ride on the absence or presence of a face mask. But all OUR freedom does ride on whether or not the current Left Wing Marxist/fascist revolution succeeds, while we argue over masks. It drains so much attention and energy, and for what? Cool your jets mask hotheads and focus on the real enemy - they will steal more freedom from us all than any damned mask.

Except, you know, pleading with the public to voluntarily wear a mask.

Kemp to embark on a ‘wear a mask’ tour of Georgia
POLITICAL INSIDER June 29, 2020
By Greg Bluestein (Says it all, doesn't it?)

Gov. Brian Kemp doesn’t plan to require Georgians wear masks. But he’s set to go on a statewide flyaround tour this week to encourage them to do so.

The governor is among a growing list of Republican officials imploring residents to don face-coverings to help contain a recent surge in coronavirus cases, even as President Donald Trump refuses to wear a mask in public. (Gotta throw DT in there somewhere)

Kemp’s set to travel to Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Dalton, Savannah and Valdosta ahead of the holiday weekend to “encourage citizens to heed public health advice and wear a mask” to stem the spread of the disease, his office said.

“Wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands, and continue to follow the guidance provided by public health officials,” said Kemp, who has made a point to wear a mask in public and on social media.

In another sign of concern over the increased cases, Kemp extended coronavirus restrictions two weeks for businesses and restaurants that were set to expire Wednesday. It's a break from a string of orders that steadily relaxed regulations.

The Governor here in Ohio just enacted the "mandatory mask" for 7 counties. The rub is, it would be like mask must be worn in Orleans parish bars, restaurants etc, but not in Jefferson parish. Guess where folks will be going for dinner and drinks?

This is good and how government should work - federal and states make recommendations or provide data so that cities and counties can make decisions on how to respond.
