The day Biden was inaugurated, I moved my 401K allocations from a stocks-based scheme to a bonds-based offering.

While I didn’t see great returns in 2021 relative to the market (5.4%), my YTD 2022 return is 4.4%. Relative to our available stock offering, I am up almost 19%.

I could have done better this year burying mine under a rock.

I moved mine because I was heavily invested in healthcare and figured Biden & pals would push hard for single payer.

Build Back Better apparently does not apply to retirement accounts.

They will eventually come for it.

You'll own nothing and like it.

I think it does. Mine is getting clobbered so bad, I might have to take a shovel-ready job in retirement.

I moved mine back in March and I am only down 15%. If I hadn't moved them I would have been down over 30% so maybe thats a small win?

I also removed funds from MY 401k at biden inauguration,

but my wifes is still in. Hers is tolerable right now, at levels of the lowest covid period in March, 2020..

Plus she benefitted from having a real American president from 2017 through 2020 with 15 to 25% returns those years so sort of like house money..?

..may be getting time to get off the pot however

No more hurt feelings is much much more important than your retirement savings account man.

Wanted to do the same but didnt want to pay taxes on profits. I was heavy in Home Depot and Costco. Bought HD at 28 and costco at 58 many years ago. They were at 300 and over 400 to begin the year. I was stupid and held on and am paying for it on paper, I just did not want the big tax bill. Will see what happens but getting azz handed to me. Most of my stuff did go to bonds like you but I have a ton in the other 2. I did trim it down some but not enough

Get out of it and back in stocks. The rebound will be glorious.

I have nine years to retire; I believe I will be fine by then. However, after recovery, I need to lean heavier into bonds.
