Typical liberal.
No conversation. No points made. No discussion.
Just random incoherent phrases and an absolute refusal to back up anything you say or flesh out any point you try to make.
I weep for your students.

read all 3 of those, bet you didnt know george sent a preview of 1984 to huxley to read.
considering the nature of the relationship between Huxley and Orwell, I would not be surprised.
And if you have read Brave New World that many times, you should consider working Brave New World: Revisited into your rotation.
As well as Island. It will illuminate your understanding of BNW and BNW: Revisited

At one point Winston asked O'Brien if Big Brother was an actual person and O'Brien told him "That's something you will never know."
I seriously doubt he responds to this. He obviously hasn’t read it in a very long time if at all.
Typical lazy leftest teacher preaches subjects he doesn’t understand to his students and berates them for asking questions then goes home with a misplaced smug sense of satisfaction.

I bet you really impress your middle school students.

Sadly, I obviously know more about the dangers Orwell warned of than you do.
I doubt it.
I mean, we can sit here and pluck the low hanging fruit like the OP suggested. Survelliance. And whatever Ben Shapiro tweets.
But the larger issues around general, broad social acceptance of 'authority' seems to be lost on a lot of folks around here.

April 2019 not recent enough for you? Cool.
What other essays have you read of Orwell, one of the most brilliant essayists of our time?

You know, Dear Leader was Obama's nickname. At least try to be original.

finally, we get to something reasonable in this thread instead of a bunch of idiots acting like they've internalized Orwell's warnings
Huxley's writings on the risks of social indifference is more pressing. The pharmacological dispensation of Soma is the inurement of citizenry to people who need help or one's own inability to connect with/to others and the lack of empathy.
It drives a wedge between people and works more insidiously than many, if not most, things in 1984

You sound like you think you are above everyone else in this thread. My hope is that in real life you act this way also, cause you have an arse beating coming to you if you talk down down to the wrong person the way you have in this internet thread.

okay, big boy.
I grew up white in a predominately black neighborhood. I have been jumped and beaten and taunted and harrassed.
If you think I'm backing down from some chest-thumping internet thuggers, you got another thing coming lol
