Here's where you learn to clog in five minutes. The energy is a separate issue.

I was part of a group called the "Rolling Prominaders". We did exhibitions of square dancing on roller skates. Great fun and a lot of innovation to keep from falling on your arse.

I doubt kids do that these days, and sadly these expressions of traditional American culture have fallen by the wayside.
Not really. At least not up here. Helen White started a program several years ago called JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) LINK. The kids learn to play traditional Appalachian Instruments, dance, sing, and delve into the culture of our ancestors. I have taught in our local program for several years. North Carolina has a similar program called YAM (Young Appalachian Musicians). The music and culture really is alive and well. Check out all the Old Time Music festivals and contests that are currently being held across the Appalachian Region.

Had the venue been more open, like a stage or a gym, fine. But someone's parlor on a Sunday afternoon?
Was really not that uncommon at all back then. Kind of like your crawfish boils, I guess. Everybody attends. Plus, this particular session was put together explicitly for the video. There are lots of them on YouTube.

Lay off the sauce boomer.
Having some old toothless redneck play the same 7 notes on a fiddle for 10 minutes while a bunch of uneducated minions bang their feet on the ground is probably as close to hell as humans can get.
Seldom do I relate a Post/Argument to the person, as I'm inclined to not make arguments personal. But in your case, I'm making it a point so as to not waste time and just skim right over any argument or commentary which you might offer in the future.
IMO, per your commentary, you ARE in "hell". And minus the help of Jesus, you'll stay there.
"Lest ye be as a child, neither will ye enter the Kingdom of Heaven". Heaven, is a state of mind.
Good luck.

PS...that was a real pleasure to watch; thanks for sharing. This is why the PoliBoard is special.
The spirit present in that room is what makes life's hard struggle and limited duration, worth the pain. Very fleeting; the limitation defines the value. At least for those who have "eyes that see and ears that hear". You just know that many in that innocent dance went on to only God knows what. It is sad that many folk peak early and resign themselves accept "quiet desperation" afterward. Or worse. I like to think that many of those there held to their spirit and pass on it on.
"The Fourth Turning". We'll get back on top.
