I don't have a problem with it. Weeds out the lazies. But some people say "it's my right to vote". True, but it's also your responsibility to abide by the law whether you like it or not. Kinda like paying taxes.

quote:

Georgia officials removed an estimated 107,000 people from voter rolls because they decided not to vote in prior elections, according to a new report.

An APM Reports analysis found the voters were removed under the state's "use it or lose it" law, which starts a process for removing people from voter rolls if they fail to vote, respond to a notice or make contact with election officials over a three-year period.

After that three-year span, those who don't vote or make contact with authorities in two elections can be purged from the voter rolls under the Georgia law.

Such laws, generally enacted by GOP governments, have been growing more common, with at least nine states now having them, according to APM Reports.

Voter suppression has become a big issue in the Georgia governor's race, where Republican Brian Kemp is running against Democrat Stacy Abrams. Abrams would become the first black woman to serve as a U.S. governor in history if elected.

When I moved to San Francisco from Georgia I was still registered to vote in Georgia but I never bothered to inform the state that I no longer lived in Georgia so they could take me off of the voting rolls.

I bet a lot of those 107,000 purged from Georgia voter rolls left Georgia and did the same thing I did.

They should require a minimum IQ score also, to keep the simpletons that are so easily misled from invalidating the elections.

If you can't provide a photo ID or answer a phone or answer something that came in the mail, then you don't deserve to have the right to vote because you clearly don't care.

It's because they believe the kind of person that only votes every 4+ years is more likely to vote for the other "side" when they do vote.

I don't take people seriously that only vote every four years. Like they say, all politics are local. If you can't show up every couple of years for local politics then you have no reason to bitch showing up once every four years to vote in a national election. I'm just funny that way.

Let's be real. We all know what the motivations are for the purges and it's not just out of disdain for lazy people or due to some desire to save money. It's because they believe the kind of person that only votes every 4+ years is more likely to vote for the other "side" when they do vote.

Nope.

Purging inactive voters is the only way to remove the dead and those that move out of state. People don’t inform their Secretary of State before they move, they just do.

Do you know how much interstate movement happens in this country? Especially in the state with a city the size of Atlanta?

Unless you're connected like Trump, then you don't have to pay taxes.
