NATO estimates are for 1 million combined casualties and that was leaked today (or was it yesterday).

Of that it's 300K+ Ukranian, 600k+ Russian.

Mostly WIA not KIA.


1. It's still huge, bigger than both sides admit.
2. Ukraine claimed way lower deaths than this implies.

People don't use critical thinking skills any longer. I doubt there are more than 5 or so million Ukrainian men between 20 and 35, so if they had 1m KIA, that would be 20% of that number. Bananas. No way. That's "World War" level deaths for a nation that size, not a medium-intensity regional conflict (admittedly with modern weapons) with a relatively small front. In fact, one of the major powers of World War I, Austria-Hungary had just above 1 million KIA.

Since Russia has been more on the offensive, if true, it suggests 1.5m to 2.5m Russian KIA, which also hasn't happened, IMHO.

I'm not saying both sides haven't lost a bunch of dudes. It could be in the 200k to 300k, combined KIA, for sure. To put that in perspective that's 4 to 6 Vietnams from the U.S. side.

We have so badly fricked this up, we are in no position to issue demands to the Russians or dictate terms. No matter what Trump and his ego want, he has no influence over Putin and the Russians are so fed up with us they are more likely to give Trump the middle finger than to acquiesce.

The problem with this, if your intent is to weaken or at least not empower Russia, is that this course of action from DC has done the opposite - I believe it was easily predictable. For decades Russia said NATO moving east was a non-starter for them. They especially highlighted Ukraine. You could argue that it's our interests against theirs, but we had no interest here and this provided no benefit to us.

Russia does not have an expeditionary force, it's a continental force designed to protect Russia and it was sufficient but not massive. Even with this war, they have not constructed an expeditionary force, except the continuance of their submarine fleet. They're not putting the USSR back together and they are not looking to annex Poland or anything like that. Russia has more resources and tons of people. They know that protecting the sovereignty of Russia is their pathway to prosperity. They have no interest in taking on new territory and new responsibility. If they did, Zelensky and his govt would be dead by now.

Now, Russia is not only unveiling new weapons but stepping up production. Manpower is greatly increased. Their force has combat experience now. They are in an alliance with China, not just a business relationship. We have convinced the Russian people that we mean to harm them - no longer needed is the Soviet propaganda. Russians have the internet, they can see it in real time, from the source.

Also, Russia emptied a lot of their old motorpools to field this war at the outset. Just like we have motorpools full of old tanks etc, they did as well. They didn't throw all their newest stuff into the fire. Instead they kept building their new stuff and bringing in more and more people. They now anticipate a conflict with NATO. They are more prepared than ever. Despite what people say, they have a good military and it is far more formidable than anything we've faced since WWII.

A NATO effort to displace Russia from Ukraine or to defeat the Russian military and beat Russia in a war would be a fool's errand. Disregarding the nuclear side, Russia can flatten everything in Europe, destroy every port, rail, and highway, in less than an hour, and they will get enough submarines through to decimate the most important sites on the east and west coasts of the US. They will make entry of forces into theater nearly impossible. If that isn't enough and if NATO keeps going, then it'll go nuclear and we will all die. This is the level of dumbassery we are facing from people like Lindsey Graham, who will be in a bunker while our families are vaporized. Skipping all of this, the idea that we can weaken Russia through a Ukrainian proxy is simply not true. Russia is now stronger and more united than at any time since the fall of the USSR.

Everything went in the opposite direction. The people in DC all knew this would happen. The Long Telegram and other things written for the past 30 years told them this would happen and all of this came from the people that knew Russia and Russians better than anyone else we had in the country. Instead of listening to them, people like Victoria Nuland and Lindsey Graham went in the opposite direction.

What these idiots did not see coming were things like BRICS and the de-industrialization of Germany.

Our nation has been weakened and the threat of world war and nuclear war has gone up. What we've seen is treason. We are weaker and China is stronger. Russia would not be an adversary and has never wanted to be our adversary. After the USSR fell, they approached Clinton and asked to join NATO. After 9/11 they were among the first, if not the first, to call Bush, and they have taken a strong stance against Islamic terrorism. They wanted to be with us. Now we have forced them to align against us. We've created an adversary.

Russia has more resources than anyone. They went through a horribly bad time after the fall of the USSR and desperately tried to westernize. In return, our leaders shunned them. Had we partnered with them and shown just the slightest bit of class, the world would be dominated right now by Russia and the US, and China would not be an issue for anyone.

North Korea problems would not exist either. Due to proximity, it would seem North Korea would have a relationship with China but their close tie is with Russia. We would not have a nuclear or military threat with North Korea had we established good ties with Russia. They could have used their influence to de-nuke NK and we'd probably have a dramatically smaller footprint in SK right now.

Our government has fricked us. Wasted our money, chipped away at our freedoms, eroded our status in the world. Our military is weakened, the economy is shaky, inflation high, and our debt untenable. Healthcare and social programs are a shite show. Wealth inequality out of control. Traveling the world as an American used to mean something good to the other people you encountered. All of that is gone or at least weakened and we have overt corruption in our government. They don't even hide it from us - they tell us with a smile and dare us to do something different at the ballot box. Every election cycle we refuse and just keep electing the same group of retarded criminals.

And a lot of politicians expanding their wealth with the money funnel.
