I don't even see a season for them in some states. Let's just say one went down over the weekend.

The red wolves and black panthers eat all of ours.
Looks like a wallhanger you got there.

People sometimes run goats in the woods and some go feral. Wife's uncle ran brush goats. Only the lead nanny had a bell. A couple of times I nearly rustled one of his goats by accident before I got a solid ID on the animal.

WOW!!
Are you serious? Are their really "wild" goats? The reason I'm asking is because I was driving back from Kennah (brah) last Thursday, and saw one standing on the side of 55North between the MS state line and Crystal Springs. I just assumed that he'd gotten out. Didn't know there was a huntable population of these things.

There's a mean ole billy that stays out around the bayou in W. Monroe. Not much of a trophy though looks like he had his horn knocked off.

Before the Guadalupe River was populated (several decades ago), me and some buddies would canoe down the river and camp for 3 to 5 days at a time, supplied with beer, fishing gear and an M1 carbine.
Lots of those goats were running wild up on the cliff faces. They taste really good cooked in foil on the coals of a camp fire....so I've been told.

if it is roaming free.. this is how the hog problem started isn't it

The hog problem was started by bringing in Russian boars, which got loose. They were already wild and hearty.
Goats don't reproduce at the rate of a hog, so the chance that they could actually pose a problem is slim.

We use to tie a bandana around our goats neck so nobody would shoot them. Eventually coyotes got so bad that they were killing them inside our fences area.

So I guess the real question is: Are you going to do a full body mount?

Even if they did reproduce rapidly, a goat is a stupid critter that walks around in the daytime. We could keep them in check a lot easier than hogs.

Better get some duct tape on them horns.
Would not shoot. They make good companions.

Fi Fi Island, across Bayou Rigaud from Grand Isle used to have a herd of wild goats on it, I think a hurricane got them too.
