The sound is not going from my Mac to my Television

I took a picture. One is the rca jack I plug into the Aux in the car for my Iphone to listen to music. Here is just the headphones from the iPhone. Notice the difference of the 2 lines and 3 lines. Is this the reason for it not playing sound on the tv. The Iphone shuts off music from my computer when I plug it in like normal. The other one doesn't do anything and the sound from the computer still plays.

I'm pretty sure the 3rd ring is for voice audio, but I'm not 100% sure

That's what I'm hoping. Why would it work in the car audio and not tv audio?

That's what I'm not quite sure about. The aux spot on the tv could be output only, but I have no idea

I'm still not quite sure what you're doing...are you going 1/8th to RCA for your TV? You are going into an input on your TV, aren't you?
Take a picture of the other end and what you're trying to do.

CP3.. the 3 lines are your audio (2 strips closest to the tip) and video (the one closest to the chord).. the quality is crap though, don't know why you would want to use that setup..

G'night !!
Seriously though.. you and CP3 should start gaming again.. might bring me back to this dead board.

I use my HMDI from my Mac to my Television which sends the video of my torrents. That works perfectly. The problem I am having is that I only get video no audio. It worked already at my house on my television (The audio). I forgot my audio jack and I'm using another one (The black one in the pic). The question I'm asking is will I have to get one like the one audio jack with the 3 rings?

Can't see the pics but it should be this.
Also, do you have a PS3 by any chance?

Ok... here we go, about to try to figure this out..

HDMI is video and audio.. the reason HDMI wasn't on the original 360 was because Microsoft didn't think the audio upgrade from the "left / right analog signal" to HDMI wasn't something people cared about. (The left / right signal can be RCA or a headphone jack, the two pictures headphone jacks you showed has 2 strips on each dedicated to sound... the white one adds video)
So I guess I will need even more info to help you.. but.. it is very possible you are seeing interference from the HDMI chord..? If you are trying to run an HDMI and an analog sound from the same computer.. this in and of itself could cause major problems.

Short answer....yes, you need all 3 rings.

HDMI is video and audio but I think the Mac cancels the audio part when going to the Television unlike Microsoft laptop. I think that is why I need the audio jack from my computer to the tv.
