eta by the time you factor in expenses, i don't see it happening unless you stumble on to one hell of a deal

I spent a week pheasant hunting Kansas last year for under $500, including license, gas, room and food. I hunted public land, alone with my own dogs...

I deer hunt in Illinois on my family's land and I often don't hunt for less than $700 after figuring in License, tags, gas, food (thats a cost of zero for guide/land lease). I think you will need to up your budget if you plan on hunting with an outfitter at least in IL.

Well not really, i already have a hunt this year in kentucky. $500 and can kill 1 buck and 1 doe, and sent game camera pictures with 10, 9, and 8 pts scoring 130-140... There are hunts out there if you know where to find them. I was just wondering if anyone had some other places they knew of. Thanks

best bet is to contact farmers in the area you are really wanting to go.

A guy that works for me has a similar deal where he goes to Kentucky every year. They always seem to kill several good bucks.

Need to look into states that have a lot of public land hunting. Colorado and Wyoming are two that come to mind. The biggest expense is license fees.

If I go, it will be on short notice due to the nature of my work. I might have access to a couple of thousand acres of private land in Nebraska. Kansas was pounded by drought and will probably be a no go. If I go I will let you know. A few pictures from last year...

I'll be damned if that's not a familiar site (them running away, not the size of the deer)

Along this same line...does anyone have any experience with Elk hunts out west? Would love to book a nice trip for 2-3 people in WY, CO, NM, MT etc. sometime in the future. I have done a little surfing online, but each outfitter seems to have positives and negatives.
