Jozy is better than Bunbury and Agudelo. He just left MLS too early, just as both of them will probably leave too early.

1.) resurrecting his career.
2.) Starting off his career. Same reason why EPL teams loan their young kids out. For more playing time.

Ok so you're going to say that a player with 10 USMNT goals and who is normally starting for his elite Turkish club is worse than two players with a combined USMNT goal tally of two?
shite I know Jozy has struggled for his clubs, but he's still better than a player the same age as him (Bunbury) and one three years younger (Agudelo).

The unknown in soccer is ALWAYS better than the known quantity.
Signed,
Herculez Gomez

Hardly, but just because Agudelo hasn't proven himself yet, doesn't mean he isn't better.
You have to not get caught up in quantities, and look at the qualities.
Agudelo is certainly better than Jozy.
Jozy is probably better than Bunbury.

Jozy had a pretty good season his last year with the Red Bulls, scoring 9 and assisting 8. He's had a lot of trouble playing with his back toward goal since moving to Europe, specifically getting the ball on the half-turn. His ability to hold play and link is pretty good for a targetman of his age.

Agudelo has one fricking goal for his MLS club and a nice assist to JP Angel.
He has loads of promise, but right now I would say that Jozy is better.
You also have to include Edson Buddle in the discussion despite the baffling (read weird financial/agent) decision to play for a Bundesliga 2 side.

MLS was considerably shittier back in 2007.
Also, when was the last time Jozy Altidore did This?
Jaun Agudelo has played in 4 competitive matches. Two for New York and two for the USMNT.
He has two game winning goals, drawn a penalty, and had an assist. Directly responsible for 4 goals in four games, two of which he came off the bench in.

This word does not mean what you think it means.

CROWN HIS arse.
Wake me up when he does something in a game that matters.

Jozy has one good National team goal. He absolutely mauled one of the best defenders in the world, and then shot the ball directly at the best keeper in the world, who then deflected it into the net.
If Jozy would have followed it up with anything of value, I might not be thinking of it as a fluke. Jozy has had some good play for sure, but he hasn't put the ball in the back of the net. He should do a swell job of giving the ball to our scorers as a target man.

Tough to say El Chosen Juan is better than Jozy at the moment, and I'm as big of fan of El Chosen Juan as their is on this board. You have to wait until at least the end of this MLS season/Gold Cup to say something like that. 4 competitive matches is far too small a sample size to make any real declarations about a player. Honestly, a season would be too, but at least it would be more arguable, and it isn't like Jozy's career so far would be hard to overcome.

His ability to hold play and link
the year at hell playing as a lone striker with no help was worthwhile if only for that reason (developing the ability to hold up play).
people harp too much on his lack of goals for the national team. without him, deuce and donovan would not be nearly as productive (goals) playing out wide (or behind jozy)

And lets not forget his greatest moment for the USMNT. The assist to Baby Bradley for the tying goal against Slovenia. Withou it, we gon't move on. It was a great pass.

put in a nice ball to deuce on the donovan goal vs. algeria, as well

That's what sucks so much about him playing for Hull City. He had some absolutely great games while the team around him was poor. I don't know if he has a goalscoring instinct though, and he will have to become better in the air to be effective in Europe.

A perfect header pass, something difficult to execute. He did it excellently, and it was fortuitous that the ball bounced perfectly for Bradley.
