Instances like that are why I chose a high vis colour for my kayak over the original colour I was going to choose. Bright red, even for something small like a yak stands out like a sore thumb in the marsh where I like to fish. Always have a flag on the back too to try to help make me more visible. Usually avoid holidays too due to the amount of idiots on the water and drinking. Had thought of hitting Prien in the morning til I saw the photos on the Calcasieu fb page today then said nope lol.

Guys I have a Bote Paddle board and a traditional boat and fish out of both.
Yakkers, traditional boats do not have to slow down every time they pass you. It is a courtesy especially if you are in the act of fishing. You and I both know you are not going to get swamped by a wake of a 15' flat boat on plane.
I was fishing the pac 2 years ago and got the finger from a guy 50 yards a way on my way out with a paddle in his hand. I was in a foot of water and could not stop. A lot of you guys have very little experience fishing or on the water, I get it but you need to learn.

I actually tell boats to stay on plane if they are in open water rather than slow down while I’m in a yak. They produce more of a wake once they slow than if they just stayed on plane

This. If you have about 30+ yards to safely pass, stay on plane. I wave boats by all the time.
Some people feel differently. I have a glitter boat and a kayak. I try to be as courteous as possible to all boaters. Sometimes I am unintentionally inconsiderate. But, you will never please everyone.

Had a metal boat come that close today with me waving at him and speaking in tongues. Not sure what he thought he was doing but we were fishing on a flat.
