Would y'all take this deer come fall? Or leave it a couple more years to pass on the genes.

My father wants to pass on this buck for a few years, but I have the strong suspicion my cousins and friends would take it the first chance given.

So what would the outdoor board do?

I would shoot it fo sho. But you can bet your arse just because you or your dad passes on it, your other family and friends won't. And I know this from experience

He looks a little young.

If it were just me I'd pass, but since there are others on the land who might not think the same, choot it.

He's a big 3.5 year old. But he'll be an even bigger 5.5 yo with aome patience.

That said, I'd bust his arse on my place

Good deer regardless

Pass..Your dad has much patience...very admirable..
How special would it be for him to shoot it in 2 years after waiting.

That is a young deer. Too many people in LA shoot anything with horns. If you want good deer, let that one walk for a few more years.

In Louisiana its hard to pass up a deer like this...if you can convince your family not to shoot it, it would be worth an extra year or two but since this is LA and any redneck/coonass would take any chance in hell to take this deer then I would take it the first chance i got....if this was Illinois then that would be a different story

And one of the reasons they have deer like this is because they let them get old enough to have passed on the genes enough and THEN take it.
