My students made me a washer set last year, and they used 1/2” plywood. It was a nice gift from the kids, but the top board cracked in no time. Does y’all use 3/4” or 1”plywood or anything else? What are some options?

I’ve used 5/8” in the past with no problems.

1/2 should be sufficient but 5/8 or 3/4 would be better. Can't see any reason to go 1 inch. Using a BC grade or better rather than CDX would decrease the likelihood of cracking or blistering though I think that would be a non issue for 3/4 inch.

I'll bet it was gratifying to get that from those students. Simple things like that always get me kind of choked up.
