Winchester Model 70 Value

A guy at work offered me a synthetic stock Winchester Model 70 in .30-06 for $300. No glass, just the rifle.
Not sure of the other specifics, I know there are many variations of the 70, gotta see the gun in person before I know the particulars.
What say the OB?

I have a model 70 (ranger - field/budget model) from the mid 80s with a hardwood stock that I "free-floated". Mine is a .270 and it has been a great gun.
If it works perfectly, has no rust and minimal stock dings, it sounds like a deal.

If it is in good shape it is not a bad deal. My winchester model 70 .270 out shoots all my other rifles. Every year I take it out of the cabinet fire 2 or 3 shots and put it back in the cabinet.

As long as in good shape, sounds good to me.

From '64 to somewhere around '92 they were push feed, otherwise they've been controlled feed.

Model 70's made anywhere from 1972 to present are valued anywhere from $300-$1300 depending on options and condition.

Dont buy that shite man. Model 70 is trash. If its in decent shape I woukd give him $75 just to have a spare or to loan out. Might as well have a tin can...........
So whats this guys number??

Not exactly a sure thing. Depends on the model. Winchester made some very inexpensive/ low quality rifles prior to FN taking over the company name.
If it looks like this
This is a winchester that was made by U.S. Repeating arms and sold at Wal-Marts nationwide. These rifles sold new for around 329.00 Most were sold with off brand scopes. This gun is probably worth significantly less than 300 if it is in rough shape. I owned one of these rifles and it shot good enough for hunting accuracy but nothing impressive for sure.
These rifles list on gunbroker and guns america all the time for 5-700.00 hoping someone will see the winchester name and way over pay.
