Comparing hollow point rounds to burning people alive in ovens, is a horrible comparison.

They aren't and haven't been since 1990. The current bullet of choice for the US military is the Matchking boat tail hollow point for rifles and the Winchester jacketed hollow point SXT for handguns.

The US hasn't adhered to the Hague since the USSOCOM memorandums.

I'll defer you to Google USSOCOM and W. Hays Parks...

No apology needed, like GI Joe said knowing is half the battle...

Ok man, I'm going to ask you have you ever been in the military? I ask this because before you deploy and as a yearly requirement you must take certain tests to be sure you know things, like the Law of Armed Conflict and such, which CLEARLY states that hollow points are indeed illegal.

I know the round you are referring to you, heres a little bit of education for you. The round you are referring to was developed under the name of the "SOST" which stands for Special Operations Science and Technology. For the people that developed the round, which as of 2010 is being fielded in Afghanistan.

However, that being said the round is an open tip round NOT a hollow point. Its Simply and open tip round that is more accurate than the regular M855 round.

Oh, and heres a Marine Corps times article TELLING you the round is NOT a hollow point because they(hollow points) are illegal.

LINK

quote:

Sixteen years after Parks issued his memo, an Army unit in Iraq temporarily banned the open-tip M118 long-range used by snipers after a JAG officer mistook it for hollow-tip ammunition, according to a 2006 Washington Times report. The decision was overturned when other Army officials were alerted.

A battle you lost. Thank you and have a nice day.

ETA: To put article quote.

It's a question of where rules end and begin. /quote]

Fair enough. You've gotten everyone's attention by comparing the ovens of the Holocaust to using hollow point bullets against enemy combatants who are not a party to either the Geneva or Hague Conventions. Why don't you go ahead and enlighten this message board as to where YOUR "rules end and begin?"

Gun store folklore and lets be honest most people don't join the military as opposed to a Rhodes Scholarship.

The Sierra 2200 boat tail hollow point remains the 30 cal and the SXT was the official bullet choice of the Mk 23 Mod 0 pistol in 1993.

Again, not illegal and have been used by US forces in combat... Saying a hollow point isn't a hollow point because its more accurate is nothing more than the US justifying its use in combat.

While he's not technically lying because the Sierra matchking round is being fielded, he is just incorrect in his assertion that it is a hollow point.

Gotcha. In other words, you'd rather stir the pot when someone shares THEIR thoughts but not share YOUR thoughts when questioned.
