I’ve had some really good days in the middle of summer throwing a chug bug. Middle of the day, not a cloud in sight. I sometimes question everything I know about bass fishing.

Messed up isn’t it?

Few years ago dead heat of summer a buddy keeps telling me he hammered the bass in an oxbow lake on buzz baits. Mid day.

Two days later we go. Mid day 90+ degrees. Caught about a dozen 3-4 lbers throwing black buzzbaits under cypress limbs.

I like it early morning. I’ve caught quite a few on it. I keep a couple at all times.

When it first came out i was catching lots of fish. 90 size black with yellow nose. New bait and fish were in it . Fast forward a few years everybody and their mom are throwing it and I don’t find it as effective. Seen the same thing happen with the ribbet frogs.

Whopper Plopper will catch big ones! I use the 110 most of the time, although I have caught a couple of big ones on the 130. When I'm fishing the rivers (Calcasieu and Sabine) I throw the 90, because the average size fish is much smaller. Don't over complicate color selection, I use either Bone or Loon all of the time. Bone when I know shad is the main forage, and black the rest of the time.

Whopper Plopper does not catch fish.... trust me... just send me all your extras and I'll dispose of them for you.
