my dad gave me a S&W blued finish with a 6" barrel. I believe it was the police model, i forget the exact model. Very fine shooting machine and very accurate but too heavy to carry each day. i plan to pass it on to my son one day.

Mrs. Midnight has 2, both Smiths, a 686 and a 627.
Particularly before carrying that 627, I would consider a carbine.
If I were to "carry" a .357, I would look strongly at the Ruger SP101 (all metal) or their excellent LCR (although I would likely carry it with .38 +P just because that is going to be a fire breathing dragon under the best of circumstances with full power magnum rounds).

Held a Kimber KS today and liked it. Wouldn't want to shoot too much Magnum through it however.
