We scouted NW corner of Cross Bayou Unit this weekend, via kayak. Looked homogenous and flat, and we ran into a dude who was hunting there so we went over to the Pinto Brake side. Did not see a thing other than neotropical songbirds.

I'll try to inspect your animal and let you know if he is up to OB standards. May need to ground check him if close enough.

Pool road just down from the Brooks parking lot. Should be there Friday night, then all of next week. We should do Jackie's buffet one night.

Should I walk up the west side of Wallace and hunt the CRP edge?

i Hunted that 2x. never saw squat. too thick to see far, and after this rain the slough may be too deep to cross in knee boots.

I had a doe cross the fence right under me. Too lazy to shoot her. I think we could get some CRP movement into the woods for the akerns.

I hunt several WMA's and NWR's in the state and I must say that there are a lot of deer to be harvested if you do your homework. Jackson Bienville WMA and Tensas NWR happen to be two of my favorites. Here's a picture of a buck I took in Tensas NWR during the lottery rifle hunt. I took this deer at 20 yards. Would have loved to have had my bow on this hunt!
