Who here has used car paint sealant

TLDR: I used a paint sealant called carpro reload three months ago and it’s probably the best waxlike paint protection and quick shine I’ve ever seen it lasted all three months before I reapplied today.
So I got a new truck a couple months back and wanted to reup my car wash game. I’ve always like a shiny car and had done a pretty good job of washing atleast once a monthish and waxing probably twice a year. It always bugged me how long it took me to paste wax and it only seemed to bead water for about a week or two.
So when I was evaluating my car wash regimine I talked to my cousin who runs a detail shop. He recommended a paint “sealant”. He said it’s similar to a ceramic coating in that it has a certain percent of silicates but it’s much easier to apply and much cheaper.
He recommended carpro reload and said look I know it’s expensive ($30) but it should last 3 or four uses and you should get about 3 months between uses.
To say I was skeptical about something being able to keep beading properties for three months with biweekly washes is an understatement. But I figured it was worth a shot.
First off I was amazed at how easy it was to use. It sprays and buffs just like a quick wax. And even on my black paint it was effortless to buff out and I wasn’t constantly chasing smudges.
After my first application I was really impressed with how it shined the car and I had to spray the hood just to see the water heading and it was some of the most hydrophobic stuff I’ve seen.
Fast forward three months and it’s still beading pretty well on my hood. I probably could have gone another month before reapplying but I really wanted to polish my truck up a bit with this stuff.
If any of you are looking for something that really works for beading and shine this stuff is great for an everyday driver that gets abused by the elements. Plus I think it’s some good long term paint protection that I am more likely to keep up with than waxing because of how long I can go inbetween reapplication.

Why would you wash a truck?

Hydrosilex on our 2010 Black Vette. Very good results.

I get excellent results using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. The clearcoat looks wet when it’s clean and it beads and sheets water like nothing I’ve ever seen. The downside is that you need to apply a prep polish prior to the sealant. The polish is more of a chore to work with than the sealant itself.

The sealants are great as are the ceramics.
As a recovered detail addict, don’t spend too much time on a daily driver especially if you don’t have garage. It takes a lot of equipment, supplies, and skill to get from 90% correct to 95+% correct. If you wash correctly and dry with spray wax, your truck will look great.
If you have an extra vehicle stashed in a garage, treat the process as a hobby. It’s very satisfying to get great results. Check out Ammo NYC YouTube for a lot of good content from 100+ hr concours-level details to sitting-under-a-tree rescues.

That’s definitely the was I look at it.
Try to wash without introducing swirls and the extra step of this sealant is so quick and easy that it seems like why not do it.
Plus it’s by far the most gain per amount of effort of any step I’ve done.

for the past 3 years i have been using a product called collinite 845. its an insulator wax, but goes on like a sealant. lasts 6 months easy, so twice a year with any da polisher is all it takes to get year round protection. oh and the bottle will last you for a very long time as not much is needed. google it, you wont regret it.
