They are destroying the backyard. I know there are several methods to get rid of them but I’m curious if any of y’all know what works best

Eta: I may post this on the H&G board but figured I’d ask y’all first

I used the green poison pellets. I put several in each hole I found around the foundation of my house. It took care of the problem. They were causing havoc in my garden and yard before I did that.

Nothing around the foundation but it’s the entirety of the backyard. I’ll give those a shot though

Kill the food source and they will be greatly reduced. I spread granule mix that kills grub worms and other things moles eat. I got tired of dealing with traps and the bull shite. The best long term method is to remove the food. Your neighbors need to get on board to push them even farther away.

Voles mostly eat plants.

Out of curiosity, why not? I don't like cats in general, but an outdoor killer is great. Ours is named Freddie Kruger.
Other than that, like another poster said, kill their food source.

that’s easier said than done because I’m sitting on 30+ acres and the closest area off my property line is a pasture

I think people are reading "moles" instead of "voles."

a lot of people do that and there is a significant difference. I could handle moles but these voles “meadow mice or field mice” are killing me

Get one from the pound. It was set to die and good chance the coyotes do not get it.

First, find out if you have "gophers", "moles", or "voles".

Two of the 3 are subsurface (gophers, moles). Two of the 3 are rodents (gophers and voles).
Most likely you have pocket gophers, but additional information is needed.

Describe how they are destroying the backyard. Dirt mounds; runways; chewing bark on trees.

Use the above to identify the "species". Each species requires specific methodology.
Ask the OB for species specific remedies.

Only runways?
Sounds like moles.

Based on your flair, are you around College Station?

I thought I had voles at first but it was moles. I tried everything. Not kidding, I resorted to putting Juicy Fruit throughout the tunnels (saw a video). They went away but I don’t know if it was the gum or a cat that ended up getting them.

Go to the pet store and ask them for ferret poop. Drop in all the tunnels. Your welcome.
