On another site, someone told me that a lot salt water people are just installing an amp under the console then using their phone to play their tunes through it. The amp is more protected, and hopefully better sound than just a tuner/cd player
I did this with my duck/flatboat. It sees a lot of saltwater. I have a 400w Alpine Marine PDX under the front deck. It's bolted to the bottom of the deck to keep it relatively dry. It's been in there for 5 years and I've had no problems at all. Just ran RCAs to the back of the boat and put a power switch by the tiller. Super easy install and you don't have to deal with the mess of a head unit. Head units and saltwater don't mix well.

Pyle= fusion?
no.
Like I said to your question, fusion is good stuff. People are putting them in their UTVs around here as well and they are holding up quite nicely to some abuse

Thanks. I was confused because he quotes Fusion brand then jumped straight into Pyle= crap.
I'm in the same "boat" and want to make sure that if I cut my console for a stereo that it lasts more than 6 months. And I do want radio to listen to radio so I guess the amp only route wouldn't work.

I like the water proof puck/gauge style with blu tooth feature. Bout to order me a MB Quart reciever for the Pathfinder. Check "rocktheboatmarinestereo. Good prices to boot.

I don't know how much you are looking to spend but I ended up just going with a outdoor rechargeable bluetooth speaker. It is plenty loud enough for what I want to do and requires no holes to be drilled.
