And what can I do to stop it?

These are sunflowers (wife's request) but everything else in my garden looks the same.

My juvenile plants looked similar last year. Fatherinlaw told me it was slugs. Put some slug stop granules from Lowes and the holes stopped.

Slugs most likely.

I don't garden but had some big arse slugs in and around my screen porch. I purchased some Sluggo from Amazon and it eliminated them.

Thanks for the quick response all.

Would I be seeing slugs around if it were slugs? Or are they ninjas of the night.

Slugs are notorious partiers.

Pour half a beer into a plastic cup near the plants. They'll get drunk, fall in and drown.

Yeah I would set my beer down next to my chair on the screen porch. Pick up the beer up a few minutes later for a drink and fing slug would be climbing up the can. Had to kill em all

You should be able to see slug trails.
If you don't see slug trails look for Japanese beetles.

Could be grasshoppers too. I have been having issues with them eating my stuff.
